WG1 Aim
This Working Group focuses on the material and media dimensions of prayer in the late medieval and early modern world. It explores how prayer was mediated through books, images, objects, and spaces, and how these media shaped devotional participation and experience. By combining perspectives from book history, manuscript studies, art history, and religious history, the group examines prayer as a lived and embodied practice. Particular attention is given to sources preserved in libraries, museums, and cultural heritage collections.
