The journal Música—ISSN 0541-4040—published by the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (RCSMM) since 1992, announces its call for papers for issue no. 33, scheduled for publication in February 2027.
The journal Música is free of charge. It is currently in the process of becoming an online digital publication.
The Conservatory and the journal invite contributions in the form of any unpublished study considered relevant to the musical community.
Submissions may be assigned to one of the following categories:
Research: A study on any explicitly musical topic, or on a topic directly or indirectly related to music, that follows a defined methodological approach to inquiry, development—descriptive or interpretive—and the presentation of conclusions.
Creation: An unpublished musical composition of short length—six pages maximum—accompanied by a brief descriptive or reflective study addressing its genesis, aesthetics, technical analysis of its constituent elements, interpretive and/or pedagogical orientation, or any other significant aspect of the work.
Essay: A reflection, profile or argument concerning a musical topic of a historical, social, musicological, theoretical or interpretive nature, among others.
Review: A brief description of a study, performance or other work of interest—whether a book, concert, lecture or any other form of dissemination—that merits discussion.
Final degree projects by RCSMM students: Faculty members who officially supervise a student’s project may suggest that it be submitted to the journal when they consider it sufficiently mature for publication, whether because of its subject matter, the coherence and organisation of its contents, or its level of reflection. The project should preferably be submitted in article format and adapted to a length equivalent to 20 DIN A4 pages. After consulting the Scientific and Editorial Committee and the relevant department, the journal’s editorial team may decide whether to publish it. Authorship must belong exclusively to the student; co-authorship by supervisors will not be accepted.
Any other proposal may be discussed with the journal’s editorial team on a case-by-case basis.
Articles will be evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process.
Articles may be submitted in either Spanish or English.
The journal’s editorial team and Scientific and Editorial Committee reserve the right to invite a researcher or scholar of recognised standing to submit an unpublished work deserving wide dissemination.
Abstract submission
A preliminary abstract of 250–300 words, including the title and the author’s name, must be submitted to revista@rcsmm.eu.
The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 15 October 2026.
Article submission
Authors must submit selected articles by 15 November 2026.
Within approximately one month of receiving their article, authors will be notified of the outcome of the evaluation: accepted in full, accepted subject to relevant revisions, or rejected.
Any revisions or clarifications requested by the evaluators for accepted articles must be sent to the journal’s email address within a maximum of fifteen days from the date on which the article is returned to its authors for this purpose, for subsequent publication.

Editorial process
Issue no. 33 will be edited between December 2026 and February 2027 and presented in February 2027.
